Puerto Vallarta to Welcome New Regional Autism & Intellectual Disability Center

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro will officially break ground this Wednesday on the new Regional Autism and Intellectual Disability Center in Puerto Vallarta. The new facility is designed to expand access to specialized care for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities throughout the Costa region.

The center will be built next to the La Lija Cultural and Sports Complex on the site formerly occupied by the Vida Nueva shelter in the Coapinole neighborhood.

Once completed, the center will provide a wide range of services, including early diagnosis, sensory integration therapy, hydrotherapy, physical therapy, specialized educational support, family counseling, and vocational training and employment inclusion programs.

The project represents an investment of approximately 20 million pesos and will be able to serve up to 300 people at one time, significantly increasing access to specialized care for local families.

Planning for the project included an executive design contract valued at just over 2.18 million pesos, awarded by Jalisco’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP).

Preliminary site preparation and foundation work began on June 13, with nearly 12 million pesos allocated for this phase. Construction is currently scheduled to reach this milestone by August 26.
