Puerto Vallarta Investing in the Future of Sports

Puerto Vallarta is getting a major upgrade to one of its most important community sports facilities. The Government of Jalisco recently inspected the Alfonso Díaz Santos Sports Complex—better known as La Bobadilla—as preparations continue for the construction of a new High Performance Sports Center.

Leading the inspection was Jalisco’s Secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works, David Zamora Bueno, accompanied by a team of architects, engineers and legal specialists who reviewed the site and confirmed plans for the first phase of construction to begin this year.

The project was first announced by Governor Pablo Lemus, who committed an initial investment of 80 million pesos, with the complete transformation of the La Bobadilla Sports Complex expected to reach approximately 200 million pesos.

The renovation will include the restoration of the Olympic-size swimming pool, locker rooms, restrooms and the children’s aquatic play area. Visitors can also expect safer entrances, improved accessibility and upgraded walkways, creating a more welcoming environment for families, recreational users and competitive athletes alike.

Already one of Puerto Vallarta’s premier sports facilities, La Bobadilla features an athletics track, soccer and baseball fields, an Olympic-size pool and outdoor fitness areas. Thousands of residents—from young children to elite athletes—use the complex every year for sports, exercise and community activities.

State officials say the investment is part of a broader effort to strengthen sports infrastructure across Jalisco while promoting healthier lifestyles and expanding opportunities for athletic development. When completed, the new High Performance Center will not only support high-level training but will also provide a modern, first-class recreational space that will benefit the entire Puerto Vallarta community for generations to come.
