Mexico has been named the second-most beautiful country in the world in an international travel ranking, finishing behind only Australia.
The list, published by Condé Nast Traveler, ranked Australia No. 1, followed by Mexico, Brazil, the United States, China, India, Canada, Indonesia, France and Colombia.
Mexico’s high ranking highlights the country’s incredible diversity. From beaches along the Pacific, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean to deserts, jungles, mountains, volcanoes and cenotes, Mexico offers an enormous variety of natural landscapes.
The country is also home to numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the historic centers of Mexico City and Oaxaca, along with ancient sites such as Teotihuacán and Chichén Itzá.
Mexico’s culture has also earned international recognition. Traditional Mexican cuisine, Día de Muertos and mariachi are among the traditions recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Condé Nast Traveler ranking is an editorial assessment, not a scientific measurement of beauty, meaning the results reflect the publication’s evaluation rather than an objective global standard.
Still, for millions of Mexicans and travelers around the world, Mexico at No. 2 might actually feel a little too low. 🇲🇽❤️
