Farmers-Market Season Returns to Vallarta: Where to Go and When
Each winter, Puerto Vallarta's open-air farmers markets become a central ritual of community life — and the season runs roughly from November through April. Three favorites anchor the calendar. The Olas Altas Farmers Market opens in early November, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lazaro Cardenas Park in the Romantic Zone. A newer Sunday market, Sabores Locales, runs at the same park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. And Three Hens and a Rooster sets up on the Cuale River Island, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Expect homemade foods, baked goods, textiles, crafts, flowers — and plenty of familiar faces. The markets are as much about running into neighbors as they are about shopping. Opening dates shift slightly from year to year, so check the exact start dates as fall approaches. But the rhythm is dependable: when the weather cools, the markets return. This is a Navigating Vallarta retelling of information first published by Visit Puerto Vallarta.
